First time taking passengers

Today was the day I would be able to show others exactly what it is like to fly in a light aircraft. Tom, my cousin, was planning on visiting so I thought why not offer my Dad and Tom a flight from Denham.

The weather was perfect, I arrived at Denham just before 10:00. I completed my normal pre-flight briefing which includes checking the weather and the NOTAMS (Notice to Air Man) - these inform pilots of anything which could affect the flight such as air displays or temporary tall structures such as cranes being erected. I then adjusted my flight plan for the days winds and completed the weight and balance forms for the flights. After I had completed these steps I went out to check the aircraft. Today we would be flying in G-BRBP which is a Cessna 152.

Not long after completing the walk around the aircraft my Dad and Tom arrived. After showing them aircraft it was decided that Tom was going to come up first.

Tom was slightly nervous before getting in the aircraft but soon settled once he was inside and had the cockpit explained. Before long the engine was started and we where taxiing out to the runway. After a few power checks and emergency briefing we were ready to go. It only took about 12 minutes to fly over my Dad’s house, we circled over a couple of times before heading back. I hope you enjoyed the flight Tom.

After we landed it was a case of a quick stop before heading off for an almost identical flight with my Dad.

As always I love the time I spend up in the air but it is even better when showing someone else the thrill of flying ... making me even more determined to reach my goal of becoming a flying instructor.

Thanks to you both for being fantastic passengers and hope to take you up again sometime in the future.
